Dental health is more important than you think.
Why is dental health so important? Most pet parents are not aware that their pet is dealing with dental issues. Did you know that poor oral health can lead to infections that can spread through the bloodstream to affect major organs such as your pet’s liver, kidneys, and heart?
Recent studies have shown that 70% of adult cats and 80% of adult dogs show symptoms of oral disease.
At Akaal Pet Hospital, we are proud that we have the most up to date equipment to treat dental disease, including digital dental x-rays. This allows us to detect any disease beneath the gum line that we would not be able to see otherwise. We can often see undetected abscesses, broken teeth, resorbed roots, retained roots, and more, thanks to dental radiographs.
Every examination includes an oral examination to assess the teeth and gums for dental disease. We are equipped to perform anesthetic dental cleanings and digital dental x-rays to assess for hidden tooth root disease. We chart all teeth evaluating for any periodontal pockets, increased mobility, and gum recession.
We’re also here to review at-home dental care tips with you, so your efforts at home and annual dental care at Akaal Pet Hospital lead to a long life of healthy oral care for your pet.
